Gov’t reduces passport fee from GHC500 to GHC350

Story: News Desk

Ghanaians will begin paying a new passport fee of GHC350 from Thursday, November 13, 2025, down from the previous GHC500, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced.

The fee reduction forms part of the government’s efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens and improve access to essential public services. It also fulfils a government promise to review passport processing costs and make travel documents more affordable for Ghanaians.

In a post on Facebook on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Ablakwa said the adjustment was  also aimed at encouraging more citizens to obtain valid travel documents through official channels while discouraging the use of middlemen and unauthorized agents.

The new fee structure will apply to all Passport Application Centres (PACs) nationwide and covers standard application services.
