Don’t be distracted- Nduom tells Gold Coast customers

Story: Yaw Takyi

A couple of days ago, Today learnt that, the Chairman of Groupe Nduom,  Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom  had accurately predicted in a posting on Facebook, that some people were planning with support from some authorities have planned public events in an attempt to throw dirt on him and Groupe Nduom.

In an interview with the paper, Dr. Nduom asked customers of BlackShield ( formerly Gold Coast Fund Management) not to lose focus on the objective to seek the investment capital.  To him, they should disregard the noise.

He pointed out the fact that BlackShield had appealed to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to assist in collecting debt owed by government agencies way back in 2919 only to be told by one Deputy Commissioner Ababio that SEC was not a debt collector.  He also told  Today that BlackShield had paid customers more GHC600 million.

This reporter drew Dr. Nduom’s attention to one Charles Nyame who has managed to put himself up as the coordinator of a group called Aggrieved Customers of Gold Coast Fund Management.  Charles Nyame  on Monday June 17, 2024 held a press conference ostensibly to give an update on the group’s efforts to get Parliament and the Government to honour past commitments to pay them their investments.  The advertised meeting, according to our sources  turned into something else.  It was a press conference apparently intended to cancel the #BringBackGNBank national campaign and the demand made by Dr. Nduom to Government of Ghana (GOG) and its agencies to pay back monies owed Groupe Nduom (GN) companies.

When asked if he knew who Charles Nyame is, Dr. Nduom told our reporter that he is someone who had approached GN officials to complain about the locked up investments for himself and his relatives.  He recalled that all such funds had been paid a long time ago including funds due to some who claimed to be executives of the former customer group.  He could not understand how Charles Nyame could say he is “aggrieved”.  He, however, said, he was  not surprised at what Charles Nyame was  reported to have said on Monday given the circumstances that led to the revocation of the BlackShield licence.

The Today Newspaper is aware that Charles Nyame has allegedly taken a “mercenary” approach going from one political party to another and one government official to another and issuing threats.  Some even have thought he was sponsored by Groupe Nduom.

This is what Dr. Nduom posted on his Facebook page a few days ago:

“Groupe Nduom companies have been in court since 2019 with GOG and its agencies asking them to pay their indebtedness.  I have been very clear about the commitment to pay GN customers.

Since we started the #BringBackGNBank national tour, many are coming out to demand payment.  But some have been induced financially to write, publish or speak against me.

What I know for sure is that when Gold Coast/Blackshield customers demand payment, I agree with them.  I have heard a preview of the messages sent by the organizers of this press conference.  I don’t mind it if they attack me personally and train their allegation my way.  They should join the campaign to demand that GOG pays its indebtedness to GN companies and contractors so that they can be paid.”
