Story: Bismark Owusu
National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended party member. Daniel Nortey from all media engagements and public appearances on behalf of the party until further notice.
The sanction follows controversial remarks made by Mr. Nortey on Amansan Television Morning Show, ‘Anopa Bosuo” in Accra during a discussion regarding allegations of sexual abuse against the Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School.
In an official statement released on October 22, 2026, by the NDC National Communication Bureau, the party’s Communication Directorate expressed serious concern and distaste over his commentary.
The party reaffirmed its strict zero-tolerance policy against sexual abuse and exploitation, emphasizing the critical importance of protecting the safety, dignity, and welfare of children.
“We condemn remarks that trivialise such allegations or undermine the seriousness with which they must be treated,” the statement read.
Although the party noted that Mr. Nortey offered an unreserved apology for his comments, the leadership underscored that public discourse on sexual abuse must be handled with sensitivity, responsibility, and strict adherence to due process.
The party cautioned that such sensitive issues should never be reduced to partisan debate or treated lightly.
The NDC concluded by reiterating its commitment to accountability, the protection of women and children, and ensuring all allegations of sexual misconduct were addressed strictly in accordance with the law.
