Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, a member of a multi-national conglomerate, Groupe Nduom, will on Tuesday September 17, 2024, organize a blood donation exercise on its premises at 9am.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs of Groupe Nduom, Frank Owusu-Ofori and issued to Today, said the exercise which is being organized in partnership with the National Blood Service (NBS), forms part of activities marking the hotel’s 25th anniversary celebration.
According to the statement, the blood donation exercise also forms part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility of giving back to the community.
The statement noted the importance of the blood donation exercise, emphasizing the need for a minimum of 300,000 blood donors to donate at least once every year to meet Ghana’s needs.
Donated blood, the statement further noted has a short shelf-life of 35 days, hence the need for individuals to commit to giving blood regularly.
“This can be done by celebrating milestones such as birthdays and personal events with a blood donation. Such gifts of blood are needed by vulnerable patients in Ghana”, the statement said.
