Prepare for leadership positions -Nduom tells NSBT graduands

Story: Atta Kwaku Boadi

The chairman of the Governing Board of Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT), Dr papa Kwesi Nduom has urged the graduands and continuing students of the institution  to prepare themselves for  leadership positions as they graduate from the school.

Such positions, the business mogul, although noted would come with a price, he further urged them not to give up no matter the odds or the challenges they will  face in life.

The renowned entrepreneur made these observations  while addressing the students at the  2nd  Congregation and 4th Matriculation  ceremony of NSBT held on Saturday, May 31st 2025,  at Ayensudo, near Elmina in the Central region of Ghana where the University is located.

Dr Nduom who is the  Founder and Chairman of Groupe Nduom, a multinational conglomerate said, as an educational institution of higher learning, NSBT’s plan was to deliver to its students a uniquely  practical and positive learning experience.

To this end, he  advised   both the graduating and continuing students to keep close with the school because “we promise to stay with you and help you to meet your life goals”.

Earlier, the Rector of NSBT, Prof. Daniel Nyarko, told the graduands to always remember  that “life is full of ups and downs, with changes that are expected and unexpected”.

He said, how they would face the vicissitudes of life would depend on each individual.

“It depends on you to muster the right attitude to the challenging scenes of life. The good thing is that by your training, you have what it takes to hold your head above the waters and to ride any storm of life. It is a matter of attitude”, he advised.

In all ,twenty-five (25) students were awarded with degrees and diplomas in BSc. Banking and Finance, BSc Information and Communication Technology, Management Studies and Information Technology.

NSBT is a member of Groupe Nduom. I am pleased to stand here with you to continue building a tradition of excellence and learning here in the Edina Traditional Area, specifically Ayensudo-Aboabo. NSBT, the Nduom School of Business and Technology, started small and is working organically to become a great university, with global appeal and credibility.

To begin with, I want to throw light on our formal logo. It is important that on an occasion like this, the words on the logo are given meaning. On the logo, are the worlds: “Kandzea,” “AdomAkyedze,” and “Mpanyindzi.”

“Kandzea” (Light): We want our lecturers and professors to make the way bright for our students with great insightful teaching.
“Adom Akyedze” (Talent): We believe that all our students have been endowed by God with great minds and natural capacity to learn and use this great fruit of nature to benefit themselves and the world.

“Mpanyindzi” (Leadership): We want our students to be prepared to become leaders wherever they will find themselves today and in the future.

It is my responsibility to also remind everyone that NSBT is a member of Groupe Nduom.

Our main philosophy is based on a Foundation of Faith. So we always advertise our favorite quotations from the Bible, which Groupe Nduom has adopted:

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29: 11; and

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self- discipline.” 2 Timothy1:7

I also wish to remind the academic and administrative staff that here at NSBT, we continue our promise to give our students the opportunity to get practical learning through attachments, vacation and guaranteed jobs, so that when they graduate from here, they will be well prepared to enter the job market. That promise must be fulfilled.

I have seen some of our students at various Groupe Nduom companies going through practical learning. I want to highlight the fact that some of the students here have assisted GN Electronics at the Industrial Estate in Elmina to assemble a test batch of televisions to be sold to the general public. This is the first of many activities that will involve you the students. On this campus, we designed a model bank branch to be used to train our students in the practical aspects of banking. God willing, the GN Bank license will be restored so that we can complete the construction work and establish the GN Bank NSBT branch to be used for practical learning. It is my hope that we will establish relationships with universities in Europe, Asia, United States of America and other parts of Africa to enrich the experience of our students while they are here.

I congratulate the administration, academic staff, students and the Groupe Nduom companies and employees who have made it possible for this Second Congregation and Fourth Matriculation to take place.
Finally, let me add:

“A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.” Proverbs 24: 33;
“Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare.” Proverbs 20:13

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR GRADUANDS!
