Performance tracker empty-PPP’s Communication Director

Story: Yaw Takyi

The Director of Communication of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Felix Kofi Mantey has described as ‘empty’ the government’s Performance Tracker  which was launched last week Wednesday at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra.

The government’s  performance is supposed to provide  details of all government projects, their progress and their locations since it came into power.

The Minister of Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who presented the tracker stated that “the tracker is a data base to showcase projects by the government”.

“This government is the digitalization government and the general public can personally check with their phones, the status of the projects and even make a physical inspection if they wish to do so,” he said.

He added that this would also help put a stop to the circulation of fake images as governments projects.

But the PPP’s Communication Director  disagreed with Mr Oppong Nkrumah.

According to him, the tracker could not be much better than the State of the Nation Address (SONA)  which is presented every year by the president.

He said, the SONA contains everything the government claims  it has done “so why bothering us with another piece of propaganda”.

Mr. Mantey made these observations while sharing his perspective on the performance tracker on the ATV’s political show, ‘Kanawu’ on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

His concern was that most of the things the government claimed it had done were not true.

He wondered why government could  mislead the citizenry.

He said, NPP should have known    that Ghanaians would not fall for their tricks and lies “ because NDC did  what they called the Green Book,  yet Ghanaians rejected them” .
