Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Samuel Anim Addo has been named the new Board Chairman of Okwawu United.
Anim Addo confirmed his appointment in a tweet, adding that he was ready to make the ‘Asase Aban’ club “great again.”
“Thank you Daasebre, thank you Kwawuman. It’s time for action. Let’s make Okwawu United great again,” he tweeted.
Okwawu United currently play in the Division Two League after they were relegated from the Division One League back in 2017.
The 1986 FA Cup champions and the 1987 SWAG Cup winners haven’t made an appearance in the Ghana Premier League since they were relegated in the 2005/06 season, losing 5-4 on penalties to All Blacks in the relegation playoffs.
However, the club appears to be on an upward spiral, making it through to the Round of 32 of last season’s FA Cup. Anim Addo’s appointment has been unanimously welcomed by the sports community who have sent him their best wishes on Twitter

Great news for Okwawu United! It’s exciting to see Samuel Anim Addo, with his GFA background, take the helm. His ambition to make the club ‘great again’ is really inspiring, especially considering their current Division Two status and past glory as FA Cup champions. It’ll be interesting to follow their journey back to the top!
Awesome to hear Samuel Anim Addo is the new Board Chair for Okwawu United! It’s ambitious to say “make them great again,” especially with them in Division Two. Their past FA Cup and SWAG Cup wins show potential, though. Good luck to him in bringing them back to the top!
