Let’s balance technology & morality- Cape Coast Technical Uni. VC advises

The Vice Chancellor of  Cape Coast Technical University(CCTU) has called on engineers to maintain a balance between technology and morality 

Speaking at the induction ceremony of 75 engineers at the Institute of Engineering and Technology Ghana, Prof Kweku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, admonished the inductees to avoid being “technological giants but moral dwarfs”. 

He said it  was great to have all the technological skills required in the various disciplines of engineering, however, practising honesty and integrity in the work “we do, will keep Ghana going”. 

For his part, Ing. Henry Kwadwo Boateng asked the inductees to be ethical in the performance of their duties as part of strategies in enhancing public confidence and trust in the works of engineers. 

The president of the Institute of Engineering and Technology Ghana, asked the public to liaise more with the institute in the awarding of contracts, recommendations, and feedback on works supervised by their professionals He also called on successive governments to ensure that, engineers were given the opportunity to supervise engineering-related ministries, departments, and agencies. T

his he said would  add enormous value for money in most governmental projects and initiatives. 

The Chairperson for Women in Engineering Ghana, urged parents and guardians to encourage their female wards who have the desire and interest in pursuing engineering programmes. 

Ing. Adjoa Gyamera  also on her part, said, the male-dominated industry had  lots of opportunities for females,  and therefore, encouraged them to enroll in the esteemed profession. 

The Institute of Engineering and Technology Ghana, inducted 11 Professional Civil Engineers, 42 Professional Engineering Technologists, 12 Professional Electrical/Electronics Engineers, 5 Professional Mechanical Engineers, 1 Professional Chemical Engineer and 3 Professional Engineering Craftsman.
