Multi-national conglomerate, Groupe Nduom as part of its agenda to go green and also ensure good sanitation in the country has joined residents of Mmofraakyem in Elmina in the Central region to clean a refuse dump in the community.
Speaking to Today on the sidelines of the exercise, the chief of Mmofraakye, Nana Kawme Eku IV underscored the importance of sanitation to the community, noting that good health of his people depends largely on how clean their environment would become.
He appreciated the communal spirit of Groupe Nduom led by its Chairman Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom who apparently comes from Elmina.
“Dr Nduom has been a source of inspiration to Edinaman, and not only that we have also enjoyed his support in all forms, financially and logistically”, he said.
He therefore could not fathom why the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would revoke the licence of GN Bank which is one of the entities of Groupe Nduom. According to him, the bank offered employment to many young people in Elmina and its environs.
“It was always a delight to see the employees of the bank going to work in the morning everyday but since the revocation of the bank’s licence these people have become burden on their families”, he lamented.
To this end, he appealed to the government to , as a matter of urgency restore the licence of the bank to the shareholders.
For his part, the Assemblyman of Bantama Electoral Area in Elmina, Emmanuel Kofi Gyeni, thanked Groupe Nduom , particularly Dr Nduom for their communal and patriotic spirit. He was of the belief that such joint exercise would continue in the future to make the community clean.
The President of Groupe Nduom, Nana Kweku Nduom, also in an interview with the media noted how important the clean -up exercise was. He assured the community of the Groupe’s unflinching support as part of its social corporate responsibility.
He used the occasion to advise the residents in the community to always make cleanliness their top priority.
The Groupe also as part of its agenda to go green, planted trees at the company’s industrial hub in Elmina.
Earlier, Groupe Nduom presented sanitation equipment to the community. The items included wheel barrows, cutlasses, wellington boots among others.
Groupe Nduom was in Elmina for its annual strategic meeting. The Groupe runs businesses in banking, insurance, real estate, hospitality, media, printing, education, sports, agriculture, etc, etc.
