Group Honours Promise to Sharks

The 1971 year group of the Saint Augustine’s College in Cape Coast in the Central Region has  donated  an undisclosed amount of money  to  the Elmina-based football club, Fearsome Elmina Sharks.

The donation was in fulfilment of a promise made to the team  to ensure that it remains in  the 20/21Ghana Premier League (GPL) 

Making  the presentation on behalf of the 1971 group of AUGUSCO , two alumni of  the group, Joseph Owusu Yaw and Gabriel Amos-Abanyin  said, “the donation is  to support Elmina Sharks Football Club and since Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom was our classmate we decided to assist him”.

The Operations Manager of the team, Kenneth Attobrah also receiving the donation on behalf of the team expressed his excitement for the  timely support from the 1971 group  of  St. Augustine’s College.

Mr. Attobrah mentioned that before the beginning of  the next season, management  of the team must recruit  new  players to beef up  the squad.

He indicated that,  the support from the group would  go a long way to help them achieve  such target.

He  used the opportunity to  appeal to supporters far and near to  emulate this gesture  and do same for the team. 

He was optimistic that Sharks would  finish the next season among the top four teams in the league’

Elmina Sharks beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko  0-1 away from home to maintain their status in the Ghana Premier League last season following a nervy last few weeks in the league.
