In a landmark move to enhance the expertise of engineers and technologists in Ghana, the Gyam Institute of Technology & Industrialization (GITI) has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET). This strategic collaboration aims to provide industry-relevant project management education and certification, ensuring that professionals in the field are well-equipped to handle complex projects efficiently in the years ahead. It aims to address recent engineering lapses in the country and the urgent need for more knowledgeable engineers to drive industry improvements.
Under the agreement, GITI will deliver specialized project management training aligned with internationally recognized standards. Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will be awarded the Institute of Project Management Professional (IPMP) certificate, a prestigious credential that enhances career prospects and professional credibility. Additionally, GITI will facilitate the induction of qualified candidates into the IPMP professional body, further integrating them into the project management community.
The partnership between GITI and IET is built on a shared commitment to knowledge-sharing, professional development, and capacity building. Under this agreement, GITI will provide high-quality project management training, ensuring that IET members receive industry-relevant education from experienced instructors. IET will officially recognize and promote GITI as a trusted provider of project management education among its members. Both organizations will collaborate on marketing efforts to expand awareness and accessibility of the training programs.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in the professional development of Ghana’s engineering and technology workforce. By equipping engineers with essential project management skills, GITI and IET are not only enhancing individual careers but also contributing to the nation’s industrial and economic growth.
As technological advancements and infrastructure demands continue to rise, initiatives like this play a crucial role in preparing professionals to navigate challenges, optimize resources, and drive sustainable development. With enrollment set to open soon, this program promises to be a game-changer for engineers and technologists seeking to elevate their skills, credibility, and career opportunities in project management.
The MoU was signed on behalf of GITI by Engr. Surv. Dr. Dr. Ebenezer Ankomah Gyamera, the Chief Executive Officer and Rector and Engr Seth Ayim, the executive Director of IET.
