Don’t  overspend your  budget-Akufo-Addo to parliament

President  Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved 92% of the budget request submitted from Parliament. 

92% of the request translates to a little over GH₵1 billion for Parliament and the Parliamentary Service to spend in 2024.

In a letter addressed to Parliament read by the Speaker of Parliament, the President said, “as requested by Parliament, government can meet 92% of the request totaling GH₵1,022,482,803.

“This is made up of administrative and operational expenses to the tune of GH₵888,482, 803, and capital expenses of GH₵134 million for the 2024 fiscal year.

The President urged Parliament not to overspend so that government can keep to its deficit target for 2024.

“Accordingly, Parliament is respectfully requested to keep the estimates of Parliament and the Parliamentary Service within the expenditure ceilings recommended by government to enable government contain expenditures within the overall fiscal space for 2024.

“I would be grateful if you could cause this annual estimates and recommendations by government to be laid before Parliament. I count on your usual cooperation,” the President’s letter read.
