School Proprietor Shot Dead at Akuapem

Ghanaians on Friday, August 27,2021 woke up to another gruesome  murder at Pokrom, a community in the Akwapem South District of the Eastern Region.

The owner of a private basic school at Pokrom, Frederick Kwaku Ohene Gyan, aged 35, was shot dead by unknown assailants around 10:45 pm last Saturday. The Aburi Police Command in a statement to the media, disclosed that the incident occurred around the said time and date. 

According to the statement, the police moved in quickly to the scene of the murder, upon receipt of the distressed news. The statement further indicated that instant investigations conducted at the scene revealed an empty pistol shell at the back of the house and bloodstains from the entrance of the house to the sitting room

.It also added that the door leading to the sitting room was damaged from outside and the sitting room where the victim was  believed to have been shot had a pool of blood covering almost every part of the room.“

The team proceeded to the scene of crime on enquiries. Instant investigations at the scene revealed an empty pistol shell at the back of the house. There were blood stains from the entrance of the house to the sitting room”, the statement further revealed. “

The door leading to the sitting room was seen forcibly damaged from outside and the sitting room where the victim is believed to have been attacked, had a pool of blood and substance suspected to be vomit”, the statement further alluded.

The statement further revealed that “A Smith & Wesson pistol, an empty magazine disengaged from its chamber and an Apple phone were seen in the pool of blood as well as a pair of trousers”, the police disclosed, and added that “Inspection of the hall and other adjourning rooms did not show any sign of disturbance.”

The police said the body of the deceased would be deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for autopsy and preservation. “Body of deceased will be conveyed to the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy”, the statement  said and “assured the citizenry that any further update on the case will be provided in due time”.
