The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has dismissed as false reports suggesting that the price of cement will increase by GH¢6 on Monday, January 19, 2026.
In a public notice, the Authority clarified that neither it nor the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee has issued any directive approving a price increment.
“The notice circulating about a GH¢6 price increment of cement on Monday, 19th January, 2026, is false,” the statement said.
According to the GSA, the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes the Authority, has not made any decision to adjust cement prices.
The GSA urged the public to exercise caution and avoid acting on unverified information, warning that misinformation could create unnecessary panic in the market.
The Authority advised consumers, businesses and industry stakeholders to rely only on its official communication channels for accurate and timely information.
The statement was signed by the Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority, Prof. George Agyei.

The GSA’s clarification helps prevent market panic and reassures consumers that cement prices remain unchanged despite circulating misinformation reports nationwide.
It’s good to see the GSA clarifying this misinformation quickly. False reports about price hikes can cause unnecessary panic for consumers and businesses alike. Staying updated through official channels is always the best approach. For anyone needing additional assistance with official checks, you can also do a quick SASSA Status Check to verify relevant updates and avoid being misled.
Recent statements clarifying that reports of a cement price hike are false are reassuring for consumers and construction stakeholders. Rumors about sudden price increases often create unnecessary panic in the market, affecting builders, contractors, and homebuyers who already manage tight budgets. Clear communication from industry representatives like GSA helps stabilize expectations and prevent misinformation from spreading. Transparency in pricing and regular updates are important for maintaining trust within the construction sector. Hopefully, accurate information will continue to circulate so projects can proceed smoothly without speculation. rtps bihar
