4th CANA African Swimming & Open Water Championships underway in Accra

The 14th edition of the African Swimming & Open Water Championships is underway in Ghana at the Trust Sports Emporium, Accra.

The competition, which has already commenced, will end on Sunday, October 17, 2021.

Over 40 African countries and nearly 400 swimmers have converged in Ghana to battle it out, with a slot at the 2022 FINA Championships available for those who can make the time.

Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson will be expected to contest against the continents best swimmers in the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 100m butterfly categories.

The opening ceremony was graced by dignitaries such as Dr. Sam Ramasamy , CANA President and Vice-President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Delphina Quaye, President of the Ghana Swimming Association(GSA) and a host IOC members and federation heads as well as ambassadors of various countries.
