The two leading flagbearers for the December 7 polls, John Dramani Mahama of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will file their nomination forms on Monday, September 9, 2024.
While Mr Mahama is expected to submit his forms at 2:00pm, Dr Bawumia will do his in the morning.
Confirming to the media, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the spokesperson for Mahama’s campaign, noted the importance of the filing and the campaign’s focus on unity and economic reform.
She stated that, “this is a momentous occasion for the NDC as we gear up to build the Ghana we want together. Our campaign focuses on jobs, accountability, development, and a better future for all Ghanaians,”.
She indicated that the NDC’s leader will ahead of the filing, begin a four-day tour of the Bono Region on Sunday, September 8, 2024 visiting all 12 constituencies.
The NPP on other hand, according to a press release by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, Dr Bawumia, who is also the Vice President and party leader, will be accompanied by his running mate, Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as well as the party’s National Chairman, General Secretary, the Majority Leader in Parliament, and a few other party leaders.
“After filing his presidential nomination, the Presidential Candidate will address party sympathizers and the general public at the party’s National Headquarters at 9:00am,” the statement said.
The statement further invited party members and the general public to be part of this historic moment, marking a new chapter of possibilities for Ghana.
