TEWU lays down tools  over market premium arrears

Story: Business  Desk

The Teachers and Education Workers Union of TUC (TEWU-TUC) and Senior Staff Association, Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), have on December 22, declared an indefinite strike at the University of Ghana, Korle Bu Campus.

A statement issued by the associations to announce the strike explained that the decision was  a result of undue delays in the payment of arrears of the Interim Hospital Market Premium to entitled staff.

It said the strike action was necessary because all efforts to get the University Management to pay the arrears spanning from 2010 to 2018 have proved futile.

Consequently, they have withdrawn several services, including the processing of student admissions and graduations, medical services, security, dental care, laboratory facilities, hostel accommodations, mortuary services, labourers, cleaners, maintenance, and estate management.
