Paris 2024: Ghana’s 4×100m relay team disqualified

Story: Sports Desk

Ghana’s 4×100m relay team has fallen short of securing a spot in the men’s final at the Paris Olympics.

The quartet of Abdul Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Joseph Paul Amoah clocked a time of 38.62s in Heat 2, but their performance was marred by a disqualification due to an infringement during the baton exchange.

This setback echoes the disappointment from the previous Olympics, where the team was also disqualified in the final due to similar baton exchange issues.

The time 38.62s was their slowest in recent years, compared to their previous marks of 38.07s, 38.08s, and 38.29s.

China emerged victorious with a time of 38.24s, followed closely by France at 38.34s and Canada at 38.39s, securing their spots in the final.
