Fire guts  section of Commonwealth Hall

A fire outbreak has destroyed parts of the Commonwealth Hall at the University of Ghana, Legon.

Numerous videos shared online show the fire, which broke out on Tuesday evening, starting at the very top of the building.

Fortunately, alerted students evacuated the hall safely, and the Ghana National Fire Service was called in promptly.

Taking to her Facebook page, the Ayawaso West Wuogon MP Lydia Alhassan wrote “The timely intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service is commendable here at Commonwealth Hall (Amphitheater), where the place has been gutted by fire. The swift intervention by the Hall Tutor and Management is worth mentioning.”

 She assured the general public that no student was hurt adding everyone was safe and in good hands.

Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is unknown.
