Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom in collaboration with the National Blood Service has organized a blood donation exercise to save lives and support the country’s health system.
The exercise, which took place at the hotel’s premises in Accra on Friday, October 10, 2025, formed part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Dozens of staff of the hotel, including members of the public turned up to donate blood, responding to calls from health authorities for regular voluntary blood donations to replenish the national blood bank.
The organizers of the event noted that every pint of blood donated could save up to three lives, underscoring the importance of community involvement in sustaining blood supply in hospitals.
In an interview with Today , President of Groupe Nduom Ghana, Dr. Nana Kweku Nduom, urged the public to donate blood whenever possible, noting that the process was simple, quick, and nearly painless yet played a vital role in saving lives.
He said the exercise was part of the hotel’s social commitment to the community it operates and further urged other corporate bodies to do same .
For her part, the Administration Manager of Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, Mrs. Afua Taylor Ashie, said, the hotel had been organizing blood donation exercise every year to support the country’s health system
She used the occasion to encourage individuals and institutions to support the initiative to ensure constant availability of safe blood for patients in need.
Earlier, the Blood Donor Recruiter, Korku Adjorlolo, noted that many people still had fears and misconceptions about blood dobation
He said, his team always educated and sensitised the public anytime they organized blood donation exercise to help dispel those fears.
