Asante Mampong nominates Software Architect as next Mamponghene

A 51-year-old senior software architect and geospatial strategist has been nominated as the next Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong.

Born Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu, he was outdoored by Queen mother, Nana Agyakoma Difie II as the successor of the Silver Stool of the Asante Kingdom.

He will succeed the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II who passed away in April 2025 after going through the customary rites at the Golden stool at the Manhyia Palace.

Engineer Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu is the elder brother of Nana Agyakoma Difie II was presented to King Makers and Traditional Council at the Amaniampong Stool Palace at Mampong as the Mamponhene-elect.

He is born into the Botase Bretuo Royal Family, engineer was among about 16 others nominated by the five royal families to ascend the stool.

Background

With more than two decades of experience, Mr. Osei Bonsu serves as a seasoned senior software architect and geospatial strategist, having spearheaded intricate software projects spanning Africa and Europe.

Mr. Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu currently holds the position of Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, where he oversees critical aspects of project delivery and strategic growth.

His leadership portfolio encompasses project governance, infrastructure modernization, and cross-team coordination, ensuring seamless alignment with dynamic industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Born on March 14, 1974, Mr. Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu spent his formative years in Kumasi, preparing the foundation for his remarkable journey. He began his basic education at City of Kumasi Preparatory School, before advancing to Prempeh College for his secondary education.

Following his undergraduate studies, Mr. Osei-Bonsu earned a Bachelor’s degree in Geomatic Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. He subsequently pursued further academic excellence in Europe, obtaining a Master’s degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from University of Twente, Netherlands, further honing his expertise in geospatial technologies.

In addition to his other academic accomplishments, Mr. Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu also holds a second Master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering.
