The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Wednesday, July 12, embarked on a decongestion exercise to rid the Central Business District (CBD) of congestion and improve vehicular and pedestrian movement

The decongestion exercise is part of the Operation Clean Your Frontage campaign and aligns with efforts to make Accra one of the cleanest cities. It is being carried out in collaboration with sister assemblies.

The decongestion exercise which began on Monday and is expected to continue on Thursday is being led by the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the AMA, Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey.

Interacting with traders at Circle, she educated them on the essence of the exercise and urged them to see the need for it to be conducted.

She advised that selling on pavements does not just inhibit the movements of pedestrians but put the lives of traders themselves at risk.
