The Zoomlion Foundation has donated assorted hand washing, and hygiene items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to two schools within the Gbantaana Electoral Area in the Adentan Municipality.
The items includes: veronica buckets with metal stands, hand washing bowls, trash baskets, waste bins, tissues, toiletries among others.
The beneficiaries of this kind donation are the Adentan Community Basic A, B, and C Schools and the Christ Faith Basic School near Foster Home-Frafraha.
The Zoomlion Foundation came to the aid of the school after a News bulletin by some media houses highlighted the poor sanitary conditions and other challenges faced by the schools.
The over two thousand students population of the Adentan Community School use only two toilet facilities out of the original sixteen seater.

Presenting the items to the schools, Head of Coorporate Social Responsibility of the Zoomlion company limited, Mr Thomas Korley explained that his outfit was touched by the plight of the pupils after watching the news bulletin. Thus the donation of the items to the schools.
According to him, the Zoomlion Foundation has been in the for front of championing good hygiene and sanitation practices among school children and will do all it can to ensure that the right Water, Sanitation and Hygiene facilities (WASH) are available to the pupils/students to practice what they are taught during ZoomKids club meetings and other educational programs.
On the issue of inadequate toilets for the pupils of the Adentan Community School, Mr Korley said he outfit will lease with its partners in sanitation sector to renovate the broken down toilets.
He also assured managers of the school that a free fumigation exercise will be carried out by Zoomlion Company limited to disinfect the school as a way of halting the spread of the Corona virus pandemic.

Receiving the items on behalf of the director of the Adentan Municipal Education Directorate, the Schools Health Director, Madam Patience Basintale Akudugu was full of praise for the gesture and ask same for other schools in the municipality.
Meanwhile the Deputy PTA chairman of the school (JHS department), Chief Supretendent Henry Amankwaatia has appealed to the Municipal Assembly, Member of Parliament, and other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school.
According to him, the Adentan Community School which is the pride of the Adentan Municipality is faced with a wide range of challenges which needs to be addressed urgently.

“For instance in this age and time children in Accra are having classes under trees due to overcrowding and inadequate classrooms. This falls short of a Municipal school” he noted.
Mr Amankwaatia explained that the PTA is handicap due to the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education Program of the government. Adding that the PTA executives are unable to levy students anymore hence their inability to raise funds to undertake any minor or major projects.
Speaking in an interview after the donation by Zoomlion Foundation, the Assembly Woman for Gbentanaa electoral area, Ms Esinam Nungo said she has been working around the clock to ensure that some abundant GetFund projects (school blocks) will be completed to address the overcrowding problem.

For now one of the hopes of both pupils and students of the Adentan Community School is to have their toilet facilities fixed.
