The Ghana Health Service has entreated corporate Ghana to support the fight against malaria.The country joined the international community to access the national and global Malaria interventions over the years at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region.
Speaking on the theme ‘’Ready to Beat Malaria’’, the Public Health Director for the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Badu Sarkodie said, although tremendous progress has been made through investments in curbing malaria, there is a large gap in the levels of funding that needs to be filled in order to achieve a malaria free Ghana. He therefore called on the business community to lend its support by sustaining gains and investments.
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Director for Health in her address said that, sanitation plays a major role in the fight against Malaria hence entreated the public to keep the environment clean to help fight the disease.
The director for the National Malaria Control Program, Dr. Keziah Malm advised that, all suspected Malaria cases should be diagnosed by the nearest health facility before any medication can be prescribed.
The event was also used as an avenue to educate the people on the various ways to prevent malaria .
