Wee smokers invade Old Tafo  M/A Basic School

SOME unscrupulous residents in the Tafo Ahenbronum, a farming community in the Old Tafo Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have turned the Old Tafo Municipal Authority (M/A) Basic School into a haven of sex and the smoking of substances suspected to be Indian hemp (wee).

According to the teachers, there was no security in the school owing to the lack of a fence wall.

The teachers said the invaders do not only smoke illegal substances, but also defecate on the campus and in one instance, someone defecated on the verander of the school building.

They further added that these invaders do not only desecrate the place, but also rob the school children of their little money given to them by their parents.

According to them, apart from this criminal act, the school also lack furniture which has compelled the children to sit in pairs instead of one child to one desk.

The lower primary pupils take instruction under a fragile shed, with worn-out roofing sheets with holes in them.

The school, one of the teachers said, does not have toilet and water supply so children have to leave the school compound and go to the nearby public toilet to pay before they are allowed to use the toilet which sometimes compel the children to ease themselves.

Meanwhile, some of the residents have complained about the deplorable roads in the community which make it difficult for them to send sick persons to hospitals, especially pregnant woman.
