Elmina Sharks midfielder, Farouk Mohammed, and striker, Felix Addo, have been called up into the local Black Stars squad by coaches Kwasi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu.
The call-up came up after both players excelled during a friendly game organised by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for premier league club, Elmina Sharks, and the Black Stars Team B, who are preparing towards the 2018 CHAN tournament qualifiers against Burkina Faso next month.
Farouk Mohammed broke into the first team of Elmina Sharks and cemented his place after injuries to regular player, Tetteh Nortey. And since that he has not looked back.
He has since marshaled the defensive midfield department of the team propelling them from 14th position a month ago to their current position of 5th on the league table.
While striker Felix Addo has also found a sterling form under new manager, Joachim Yaw Acheampong, who has revived the ailing career of the ex-Liberty Professionals goal poacher.
Felix has so far netted thrice and assisted once in his last four outings for his side.
He has had immense influence in his team’s run in the last 10 games of the season. Although he failed to score against the local black Stars last Wednesday, he had a wonderful run on the defenders and was twice denied by Joseph Addo in post for the national side.
The two selected players excelled in their respective positions although they lost 1-0, courtesy a last gasp scramble that AshGold’s Shafiu Mumuni turned in from closed range.
They therefore join the Black Stars Team B, who are preparing for the 2018 CHAN qualifiers as well as the upcoming West African Football Union’s tournament to be held in Ghana in September 2017.
The two players are expected to join their counterparts in camp this weekend, following instructions from the team’s head coach, James Kwasi Appiah.
