Elmina Sea Lions whitewashed Ghana’s female national team the Black Queens 3-1 in a friendly match at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram Friday morning.
Both teams were using the match as preparation for upcoming assignments. While the Sea Lions’ were preparing for the 2018 National Women’s League season opener against Immigration Ladies, the Black Queens were also preparing for an international tour to Japan where they are expected to play series of friendly games in the Asian nation.
Sea Lions scored their goals through Sarah Abrafi, Elizabeth Owusuaa and Alice Sarpong while Black Queens scored a consolation through Portia Boakye.
The match was billed as a tough challenge to the Elmina side judging by the fact they were going to play the same Black Queens side who lifted the WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast last month.
Coach Eddy William use the trail match to access the team’s new acquisitions.
The win by the Sea Lions will serve as a morale booster to the team with barely two weeks to the commencement of the National Women’s League where they will travel to play as guest of Immigration Ladies at the Carl Reindorf park in Dansoman.
