Pressure on NLA boss to contest Asuogyaman seat

Supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Asuogyaman Constituency of the Eastern Region are mounting intense pressure on the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mr Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, to contest the Asuogyaman parliamentary seat in 2020.

Anything short of this the supporters warned would see the NPP lose the seat to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

They pointed out that the reality on the ground and statistical analysis favoured Osei-Ameyaw as the perfect candidate for the Asuogyaman seat.

“Asuogyaman seat is one of the parliamentary seats that the New Patriotic Party can easily snatch from the NDC if the party is able to convince and force Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, to contest in the 2020 parliamentary election,” this was contained in a statement signed by a political pundit/researcher & member of Frontiers Ghana, Mr Ben Taylor.

Mr Taylor, who issued the statement on behalf of the followers of the NPP in the area, and copied Today in Accra yesterday, stressed that it was imperative for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Freddie Blay-led leadership to do everything possible to compel Mr Osei-Ameyaw to contest the Asuogyaman seat again for the party.

And as part of their reasons was that Mr Osei-Ameyaw was the most favourite candidate for the Asuogyaman parliamentary seat.

The research by Mr Taylor was corroborated by findings by a group calling itself Asuogyaman Development Foundation and the Asuogyaman Devoted Ladies.

Testing the popularity of Mr Osei-Ameyaw on the grounds with about 40,000 posters embossed with his picture, it emerged that Mr Osei-Ameyaw was more popular within the constituency.

To this end, NPP supporters in Asuogyman urged Mr Osei-Ameyaw to contest the 2020 parliamentary election in the constituency.
