One of the aspirants of the regional Youth Organiser position for Ashanti Region, Kwaku Frimpong, was cleared to be eligible to contest in the upcoming regional congress of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The decision to uphold his petition, which was communicated to him on the evening of Tuesday, April 17, 2018 was as a result of findings that the information on which the vetting committee disqualified him was false.
In an interview with this reporter, Kwaku Frimpong said even though his campaign was slowed a bit, he was sure he would surely win the Youth Organiser position in the upcoming contest.
“My detractors were scared of the serious inroads I had made in the region, knowing that I will surely win the upcoming elections so they tried to use unorthodox means to get me disqualified but my God has spoken,” he said.
He continued that “they meant it for my failure but God turned it for my favour rather,” explaining that the delegates were even empathising with him now than ever.
He expressed his appreciation to the numerous delegates who commiserated with him.
He also thanked members of the Appeals Committee of the party in the region.
According to him, he wants to be silent on the reasons for his disqualification due to the unity and coherence in the party and rather look on to his upcoming victory on Saturday.
Kwaku Frimpong, who is contesting the Regional Youth Organiser position for the third time, noted that “everyone including those contesting me know that this is my time, and by God’s grace I will win it.”
He said that his serviceable, affable and party-man nature will not change even after winning the post.
