‘We need unity to win 2020 poll’

Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, Mr Stephen Ofosu Agyare, has assured of working tirelessly with all the constituency executives and followers of the NDC in the region to ensure that the seats lost by the party during the 2016 election to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are recaptured in 2020 showdown.

According to him, it was imperative that the NDC wrestles the destiny of this country from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He noted that the followers of the NDC in the Central Region got disappointed in 2016 after the party recorded an abysmal performance under the watch of the previous central regional and constituency executives of the party.

He maintained that the NDC was currently holding few parliamentary seats in Central Region as compares to the NPP, which is holding majority of parliamentary seats.

He mentioned that, that informed the decision of the delegates to vote massively to elect the new constituency executives.

“We have started working seriously by way of restoring the hope of the grassroots members to comeback to vote massively for the party in the 2020 general election.

“We know that we are going to succeed in increasing both the presidential and parliamentary votes of the party in 2020 polls with strategic measures we had introduced to goad electorate from the constituencies,” Mr Agyare stressed.

Mr Agyare disclosed this to a cross-section of journalists after he led the newly elected constituency executives for Awutu Senya East of the NDC to pay a courtesy call on the Kasoa Ewe Community Chief, Torgbe Amehoho, at his palace recently.

The visit, according to him, was aimed at introducing themselves to the chief and his elders and further sought their blessings.

“Now that the NDC is successfully done with the constituency elections, very soon the regional and national ones will follow before they will determine the one who will be their parliamentary candidates before a full-scale campaign begins

“We the NDC new executives are ready to work hard to win more MP seats, particularly the Awutu Dental East seat, which is being occupied by NPP’s Mavis Hawa Koomson,” he assured.

According to him, they have started introducing themselves to opinion leaders in the constituency, beginning with the overlord of Odupong Ofankor Traditional Area, Nai Awushie Tetteh II.

He said that the new executives and the old executives were united and committed to work together to win the 2020 general election to get NDC back to power to save the nation from the economic challenges that were facing the nation under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
