NDC MP RESIGNS! Over Mahama’s Voltarian Comment. More Volta MPs to follow

All is not well with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) party as the Volta Regional branch of party  is said to be in turmoil due to machinations and manipulations by some forces  at  the Adabraka headquarters of the party, Today can report.
The development, according to our sources yesterday compelled the party’s Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho West Constituency in the Volta Region, Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzrah   to tender in his resignation to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof Mike Aaron Ocquaye .

His resignation letter Today gathered was also copied to the leadership of the NDC minority.

Although no particular reason was assigned for  his abrupt  decision, Today’s investigations showed that, it  was  largely  due to the alleged derogatory comments former President John Dramani recently made about the founder of the NDC, former President Jerry John Rawlings during the party’s last ‘Unity Walk’ in Ho.

Mr Mahama, while addressing enthusiastic crowd of the NDC, was reported to have described Mr Rawlings as “ Volta god” , a remark our source said, angered the NDC Volta Caucus in parliament.

The Ho West MP, our sources also noted was not happy with certain decisions by the party leadership concerning the upcoming nationwide constituency primaries of the NDC.

“How can they suspend an  election in my own constituency without my knowledge? This is ridiculous, and I think it  is an attempt by some selfish people in the party who want to sabotage me”, he was reported to have told a confidante.

Our further checks at the NDC’s headquarters also  indicated that, the Ho West legislature  is believed to be the darling boy of Mr Rawlings, hence some anti-Rawlings in the NDC’s  plot against him.

“You see ever since the powers that be decided to get him off, all his efforts to get things done properly both at the constituency, region and national have foiled’, the source lamented.
More Voltarian MPS, Today gathered will also follow suit if quick action is not taken by the leadership of the party to address their concerns.

“We cannot sit down and allow few elements in the party because of their parochial interests to malign our founder. No, it will not happen! Then, we will  all leave the party for them, and see what will happen”, another MP from Volta who also whispered his resignation to Today said.

Meanwhile as of press time yesterday the leadership of the minority was in a crunch meeting with the Mr Bedzrah to impress upon him to rescind his decision.

Mr Bedzrah who is also the Ranking Member on Government Assurance Committee and chairman of Volta Caucus in Parliament  is a Procurement and Project Management Consultant and has been in Parliament since 2009. He is also Chairman of Parliamentary Christian Fellowship.
