Lilwin demands fees to attend movie awards

Organisers of events like movie awards, film festivals who want to invite actor, Mr Kwadwo Nkansah aka Lilwin, to grace their ceremonies as a guest should be ready to cough out huge sums of money to him before his services can be secured.

The Kumawood actor is not the least happy with organisers of events, especially those organising movie award schemes.

According to him, movie awards organisers in the country treat local language moviemakers shabbily during such events.

Thus, he has resolved not to attend any movie award scheme again unless he is paid huge before gracing any such occasion.

Liiwin, who could not held his anger and displeasure about a comment made by one of the juries of Golden Movie Awards on the quality of movies produced by Ghanaian filmmakers, especially those who use the local languages (Kumawood), averred that the practice must stop.

Speaking on Accra-based Zylofon FM Lilwin described the comment by the jury as unfortunate.

”It is ignorant on the part of the jury or anyone to say that Ghanaian moviemakers overuse drones,” he lamented.

The Kumawood actor and musician said “henceforth, when you invite me to any movie awards event, I’ll charge you or else I won’t come. Because I have realised they give the awards to those who can pay,” he alleged.

“You can’t organise an award scheme and not nominate Kumawood movies. That makes your award empty. Everybody comes up with a movie award scheme and gives the awards to only Nigerians. These Nigerians we always keep promoting don’t do same to us,” Lilwin stated.

“Twi movies have huge patronage so if you think you don’t need them in your awards, don’t demean them with negative words,” he added.
