First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo, has expressed excitement over the progress of work on-going at the Mother and Baby Unit, funded by the Rebecca Foundation at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Kumasi metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who on an inspection exercise, last week Wednesday in the hospital, was glad that the project would be completed according to schedule.
She commended the contractor on the project, Africa Buildings Partners, for the work done, adding that “I’m overwhelmed to see such great progress.”
“I saw the drawings of the project, but did not expect that this is how it would turn out and I’m really overjoyed about what I have seen today,” she said.
She explained that government alone cannot fund every project hence her decision to support in that direction.
“It is not over yet, so keep it coming, keep the cheques coming, we need more to finish it and there is more work to be done,” she appealed.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, on behalf of the Regional Coordinating Council, and the various Metropolitan, Municipal & District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region presented GHC120, 000 to her as their contribution towards the construction of the health facility.
The first lady was hopeful that the block, which is 70 per cent complete, will be ready by November this year.
“I can’t wait to come and launch it, so be ready, I will be back,” she said.
