EASTERN Regional Deputy Minister, Samuel Nuatey Ayertey, on Friday, August 2, 2019 filed his nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primary on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower Manya Constituency for the second term.
He, therefore, gave the assurance that he will win the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2020 general election should he be given the nod to represent the NPP.
Mr Ayertey whom many people have described as a home-grown man, expressed his commitment to strengthen the structures of the NPP in the constituency for victory in the 2020 general election.
He stated that the electorate in the area had lost faith in the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament (MP) and were yearning for a change, hence his decision to contest the primary for the second time.
Speaking in an interview with Today after filing his nomination papers, Mr Ayertey asserted that the current situation of the NDC in the constituency left much to be desired.
The NPP parliamentary aspirant said there was a strong feeling among the majority of the NPP activists, supporters and members that, “I have excellent skills to turn things around and have persistently asked me to represent them in Parliament.”
According to Mr Ayertey, his proven skills as the current deputy eastern regional minister would also promote various initiatives and teamwork so that together they would identify and prioritise the needs of the people in the constituency.
He assured them of embarking on a massive re-organisation from the grassroots when given the nod, which according to him, was the only way forward to make significant impact to win the 2020 election.
To this end, Mr Ayertey called on the delegates to vote massively for him in the up-coming September 2019 NPP parliamentary primary.
