I’ll deport Chinese galamseyers — Nduom

2016 Progressive People’s Party (PPP) presidential hopeful, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has reiterated his call that a government led by him will deport Chinese nationals involved in galamsey (illegal mining operation).

“Our government …I mean the John Mahama led governmen] has allowed Chinese to come to our country, mine gold in water bodies, degrade and pollute our water bodies and keep destroying our land. I, (Papa Kwesi Nduom,) am telling you today, that my government will deport any Chinese, and any other foreign national doing things that are harmful to our country back to where they came from,” he stressed.

Dr. Nduom made the statement while addressing a rally at Ejisu in the Ejisu-Juaben constituency of the Ashanti Region at the weekend.

According to him, “no Ghanaian can go to China or any other part of the world to engage in acts that will destroy any foreign country’s environment and its people.”

The PPP flag-bearer said it was sad that after destroying the environment these foreign nationals leave with their ill-gotten monies which situation leaves Ghanaians facing the consequences of their actions.

“It is regrettable that we have some Ghanaian officials fronting for people from elsewhere to come and destroy our country with ‘galamsey.’ I ask you here, in ten years where are you going to get good water to drink?” he asked.
