FEAR and panic has gripped residents of Ayigbe Town, a suburb of Weija, which is a fishing community in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The reason, today understands, follows a bizarre incident, which happened on Monday, February 5, 2018.
Three big pigs, according to the residents, attacked and chewed a four-year-old schoolgirl, Patience Owusu Agyarko, which situation saw the girl fall into coma.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries on her forehead and her two hands, the residents said, was quickly rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital in Accra for treatment.
Speaking in an interview with Today on Tuesday [February 4, 2018], Assemblyman for New Weija Electoral Area, Mr. Oduro Ampaw, narrated that the mother of the victim, Madam Akua Serwaa, sent her daughter to buy biscuit from a nearby shop but a minute later, the mother heard people shouting and to her surprise she was told three pigs had attacked her daughter.
He said when the victim’s mother rushed to the scene of the incident; she saw three big pigs feeding on her little girl.
But he said, with the timely intervention of some good Samaritans the little girl would have lost her life.

Consequently, he said, he has ordered the people in the area to kill any pig that roams about in the area.
Meanwhile, the assemblyman has officially reported the matter to SCC Police Station to arrest the owners of the pigs.
As for the pigs, he said, the residents of the area instantly killed them.
