Accra Hearts of Oak and Inetr-Allies have settled on Tema Sports Stadium as their home grounds for the upcoming Ghana Premier League due to their ineligibility to use the Accra Sports Stadium.
After using the Accra Sports Stadium for several years, the fast deteriorating edifice is currently under renovation and after thorough deliberations, management of the club has opted for the Tema Stadium as their new home venue.
Hearts were denied the usage of the facility when the Ministry of Youth and Sports cut sod for the refurbishment of the stadium, which is set to host the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in November 2018.
The two clubs will have to therefore cough Gh¢35,000 for renovation works at the Tema Sports Stadium if they have to get the facility in shape before the resumption of the league which has been put on hold due to court injunction by the Accra Great Olympics against the Ghana Football Association.
Great Olympics may also be forced to adopt the same facility if they win the case, which has been heard once by an Accra High Court.
Refurbishment works at the Accra Sports Stadium, which will cost the nation an estimated $12.5m, is set to be completed in September to allow Ghana host the competition after a successful hosting of the West Africa Football Union tournament in Cape Coast and Elmina.
