Group Jmkad has bagged GH¢21000 as the overall winner for the MTN’s Shortz Challenge launched on August 8, 2018, at the MTN House in Accra.
Addressing the gathering, the spokesperson for the group, Mr Ampong Kwaku Kwakye, urged the youth to be innovative and prepare for leadership roles in the future.
He said the youth play a critical part in national discourse; therefore, their capacities should be enhanced to enable them to deliver when given the opportunity to serve in leadership capacities.
Mr Kwakye made these remarks on behalf of the group after picking a whopping GH¢21000 as the winner of the short film category and also the overall best video.
Also, receiving awards were Mosquito Defense as Best Game for the games category, Don’t be shy as Best for the Podcast category, Child trafficking as best for the Animation category, Lost, as Best for the short film category,
Other awardees included Respiration, as the best trendy video on social media and Audition as the best funny video with Lost again being adjudged the overall best video with producers of all of these videos picking a sum of GH¢6,000 each with exception of the overall best video which received a whopping GH¢15,000.
However, the manager noted that no winner was found for the best shot on phone film and best local language videos.
For his part, Senior Manager, Sales Operations & Trade Marketing at MTN, Mr Sefenu Agorodo, stated that to empower the customers digitally, MTN Shortz which serves as a reference point to access short video content including comedy, animation, podcast, games, and films, was launched.
According to him, his outfit received a total of 367 entries 200 of which were short films category, 113 entries were received for comedy videos.
