Fearsome Elmina Sharks displayed yet another breathtaking performance to thump Accra Hearts of Oak 2-1 in week 7 of the Ghana Premier League at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.
Sharks dominated the Phobians in the opening minutes of the match and deservedly went ahead in the 25th minute after Felix Addo, who had missed an earlier chance in the game, headed in a lofty corner kick by captain Obeng Crentsil in the 21st minute.
Sharks striker Felix Addo came close to double the score line in the 23rd minute but his fierce shot went wide away from goal.
Just before recess, Hearts once again failed to tame the visitors with their awesome passes and allowed Shark’s to add their second goal of the day courtesy a thunderous long range shot from captain, Daniel Obeng Crentsil in the 40th minute.
Coach Wellington made some two quick changes during the recess as he brought on Malik Akowuah in place of Fatau Mohammed and Winful Cobbinah for Selassie Bakai.
The move seemed to work for the Phobians as they begun to control the pace of the game and duly halved the deficit in the 61st minute after goalkeeper Richard Attah failed to deal with Malik Akowuah’s powerful shot.
Hearts of Oak dominated the entire second half but failed to make it count in goals as Elmina Sharks collected the maximum points continue their unbeaten run ahead of their midweek clash with Karla DC in Anyinase.
Elmina Sharks striker Felix Addo was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the match.
