Former Ghana Premier League giants—Okwahu United and Eleven Wise—have been relegated to the third-tier after the final day of competition in the GN Bank Division One League (DOL).
Last year’s Ghana FA Cup finalists, Okwahu United, finished third bottom on the Zone III table with 37 points from 30 matches while Sekondi Eleven Wise amassed only 29 points after 30 matches.
Zein FC who were at the foot of the table was joined by Dynamo FC to exit the league in Zone 3 while Dunkwa United and Wassaman United together with Sekondi Eleven Wise have been relegated to play in the Division Two League next season.
Meanwhile, debutants, Karela FC, and returnees, Dreams FC, marked their entrance into next season’s league with coronation at their home grounds. Karela FC secured 73 points to win the race to the premier league from Zone Two while Dreams emerged winners of Zone Three with 71 points.
At a brief coronation event held after their Day 30 match against Bibiani Gold Stars and Mighty Jets respectively, both clubs were awarded with a trophy, a plaque and medals for all players and technical team members for topping their zones.
Karela FC will be making their first appearance in the Ghanaian top flight league while Dreams FC will be making a return to the Premier League after they were demoted last season.
