The Western Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has noted with concern some recruitment announcements currently ongoing on social media and other media circles describing them as scams.
These criminal elements have resorted to the creation of fake social media accounts using details of some prominent officers of GIS in their attempt to deceive the unsuspecting general public.
However, the GIS uses newspapers and the Ghana Immigration Service website (www.gis.gov.gh) as its traditional mediums through which advertisement for recruitments are communicated to the general public.
This was disclosed by the Western Regional Public Affairs Officer of the GIS, ICO Moses Manford Akakpo, in an interview with Weekend Today.
According to him, his outfit was currently not recruiting personnel and for that matter all such social media platforms or publications should be disregarded and treated with the contempt they deserve.
“The Command is by this interview informing the general public that the GIS does not have assigned agents, social media platforms or mobile money accounts through which such recruitments are made,” he reiterated.
ICO Akakpo, therefore, urged members of the general public to be on the lookout for such criminal elements within our society and report their conduct to the GIS or the Ghana Police Service.
He further urged all those who may have received such recruitment messages or fallen victims already to such unscrupulous schemes to assist with investigations by providing credible information to the Service dotted across country.
