Known in real life as Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, Ebony’s demise on Thursday, February 8, 2018 through a car accident shook the entire national, particularly, the industry players and her fans.
Many including, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Efya, Flowking Stone, Ofori Amponsah, 2Toff took to social media and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
The late ‘Maame Hw3’ hit maker met her untimely death on her way from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region to Accra after meeting her mother who had returned from the United Kingdom (UK).
Ebony died in an accident with a military officer known as Vondee Atsu, and her Personal Assistant Francisca Kuri, in a Jeep with registration number AS 497—16.
Ebony who was tipped to win the t2017 artiste of the year of the Ghana Music Awards to be held somewhere in April this year had a number of hit songs including ‘Maame Hw3’, ‘Kupe, and ‘Poison.’
Born on February 16, 1997, Ebony was discovered by Bullet, a member of Ruff n Smooth fame.
She was signed to his Rufftown record label just a day after listening to her recording.
Ebony came out with her first single, “Dancefloor”, in December 2015 with a video and audio release.
The song became a hit on radio landing her nomination for the unsung category at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards.
In March 2016 Ebony released her major hit single “Kupe”, which is a household anthem in Ghana and some other African countries.
