The principal kingmakers to the Gbese Royal Stool at Ga-Mashie in the Greater Accra Region, have thrown a word of caution to the media to desist from addressing the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi-Bonte ll, by his private name Tommy Okine.
The kingmakers said they were surprised the extent to which media houses, which were invited to the cover the enstoolment of Nii Ayi-Bonte, to ascend the throne of the Gbese Royal Stool, still addressed him in their recent publications as Mr. Tommy Okine.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Today, the head of the Gbese Royal Stool Kingmakers, Nii Okai Kasablofo, described as false, widespread media reports that Nii Ayi-Bonte II was not the rightful claimant to the Gbese Stool.
He went on to cite the headline of the Crusading Guide news paper, that “Tommy Okine still not Gbese Mantse,” as a negative headline.
Nii Okai Kasablofo in an angry mood vowed to institute legal action against any newspaper that addresses Nii Ayi-Bonte II, as Mr. Tommy Okine.
He further explained that the ban on drumming and noise making a tradition of Gas was lifted by Nii Ayi-Bonte II, which signifies that he is the right chief of the Gbese Royal Stool.
He added that the whole Gbese Traditional Area, acknowledges him as their chief and pay homage to him during traditional festivals of the Ga State.
