Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has started works on the construction of 2.5-kilometre road and drains in Gbawe Top Base within the municipality.
At a sod-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 the Chief of Gbawe, Nii Laryea Faamlite ll, in his welcome address, said he was relieved that the project has commenced.
He commended the Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Tina Naa Ayele Mensah, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Mr Patrick Kwasi Brako Kumor, for their commitment to the road network project.
In her address, the MP, Mrs Mensah, who is also the Deputy Minister for Health, said it was good to have a municipal chief executive who knows and appreciates the concerns of the people.
She further stated that what was being witnessed would not be the end.
For his part, Mr Kumor said Gbawe township will benefit from more road projects in the coming days.
He said next year will see more developmental projects.
Residents of Top Base, who witnessed the ceremony, were so happy about the development and thanked the MCE, MP and the government for bringing such development to the area.
