A 27-year-old illegal miner, Mumuni Maanye, who met his untimely death as a result of a galamsey pit disaster in Wassa Nananko, a farming community in Amenfi East District of the Western Region, has been buried after a police autopsy.
His interment took place at Wasa Nananko where the deceased had been residing with a few relatives before his departure.
A senior police officer at Wassa Akropong Police Division in the Western Region, Chief Inspector Braimah N. Godwin, confirmed this to journalists.
According to Inspector Braimah, the deceased hailed from Bungkpurugu-Yonyoo in the Northern Region.
He continued that Mumuni Maanye perished on the spot while two of his other colleagues escaped with minor injuries.
The tragic incident, Inspector Braimah said, happened around 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, 26th July, 2017.
