FreshPaKNWL Week 8: Sea Lions play away to Hasaacas Ladies

Elmina Sea Lions will resume the second round of the FreshPaK National Women’s League as they seek to revenge the painful 1-0 loss they suffered at home against the Abompe Ladies on Saturday.

Trailing the league leaders, Hasaacas Ladies, by some six points, they would need to play above themselves to beat their hosts who are yet to drop points at home.

Coach Eddie Williams and her girls have had disappointing spells so far after the massive signings prior to the commencement of the league gave the supporters high hopes that they are finally ready to challenge for the crown.

Especially considering their good start at Immigration Ladies where they won 1-0, it was expected that the girls would go on to dominate the league, but they have so far lost three matches in the opening seven games, winning three and drawing once.

Any result apart from a win at Hasaacas Ladies could prove disastrous and an end to the Lions’ pursuit of the southern zone championship, considering the points gap and the calibre of teams in this year’s competition.

Eddie Williams will have the luxury of welcoming back to the team the six players who were invited to the U-20 national female team’s camp who have been released to help their various teams prepare for the second round games this weekend.

Players such as Elizabeth Owusua, Blessing Agbomadzi, Martha Annan and mercurial midfielder, Zinatu Alhassan, will be of immense help as the team goes for broke Sekondi.

At other league centres in the southern zone, second placed, Cape Coasters, Lady Strikers will welcome Police Ladies to the Robert Mensah Stadium while Immigration Ladies will also entertain Soccer Intellectuals at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

Finally, Samaria Ladies will play as guest of Halifax Ladies at the TDC Park, Tema.

In the northern zone, Fabulous Ladies will seek for their first win of the campaign when they welcome Kumasi Sports Academy to the Wesley College Park in Tafo. Ashtown Ladies will welcome high-flying Northern Ladies while leaders, Ampem Darkoa, will engage Supreme Ladies in an all Ashanti derby. In Tamale, Pearl Pia Ladies will welcome Sunyani-based Prisons Ladies to the Utrecht Park.

The games will take place between the 2nd and the 3rd of June, 2018.
