If what happened at the MPs Club House before, during and after the vetting of Madam Mariam Dzifa Ibrahim, one of the six persons who picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming Parliamentary primaries and the euphoria that greeted the news of her Clarence in the Amasaman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is anything to go by, then it is obvious that Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim will win the only ticket to represent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020 parliamentary elections, Today can report.
Majority of NDC party delegates in the Amasaman Constituency who spoke to this reporter have declared their unflinching support for Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim, ahead of the party’s parliamentary primary slated for August 24, 2019.
The Amasaman seat which is a safe seat for the NDC according to our sources will be hotly contested between the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, and Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim, the National Women’s of Zongo for Mahama.
Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim, who is an entrepreneur, sources within the party in the constituency said, has become the toast of the NDC delegates in the area due to her good human relations and wiliness to extend a helping hand to anyone who comes in contact with.
In an interview with Today on condition of anonymity, a member of the NDC executives in the constituency underscored the enormous contribution Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim had made towards the reorganization of the party in the area.
Mincing no words, the Amasaman Constituency Executive Committee (CEC) member said, it would be disastrous for the party to retain their sitting MP.
Although the executive failed to give reasons for rejecting the incumbent MP, he maintained that Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim would do better for the party’s grassroots when given the opportunity to represent them in the next Parliament.
“Even when he is not an MP the kind of things this young woman is doing for us is amazing,” the CEC member said.
“Her selfless nature and kindest heart alone make her a good leader, as well as a parliamentary material,” the CEC member extolled.
“We stand to gain a lot if Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim is elected as our parliamentary candidate for the 2020 poll,” CEC member reiterated.
Meanwhile, our sources within the NDC Vetting Committee confirmed that Mad. Dzifa Ibrahim who was vetted on Friday was the favourite among the other six contestants.
Speaking to Today after her vetting, the National Women’s Organiser of Zongo for Mahama said she would build a robust and vibrant NDC in Amasaman through grassroots mobilisation and effective branch work.
This, she noted, would be done through empowering each branch of the party with the needed resource.
“Engaging the youth to gain meaningful employment through formal education and skills development training will be my topmost priority.
“I will be an MP that is visible and available to the people and not an MP at larger,” she promised.
