A sod has been cut for the construction of an eight hundred (800)-metre long drain at New Gbawe, a suburb of Accra.
The ceremony was performed on Monday, 14th January, 2019 jointly by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Hon Tina Naa Ayele Mensah, and the Municipal Chief Executive of Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Hon Patrick Kumor.
In a short address, Hon Mensah, who is also the deputy Minister for Health, said promises were meant to be kept, and one of such redemption of a promise had been witnessed.
She asked members of the community to collaborate with the contractors for a good result.
For his part, the MCE, Mr Kumor, urged the people to own the project and ensure proper maintenance. He reminded the contractors that he was always in search of value for money.
The MCE again entreated the people to pay their rates to enable the assembly bring more development to the municipality.
A representative of the contractors pledged to complete the project and handover before schedule.
A resident, Mr George Nsaki, said they were so happy to see the commencement of the project.
