Diabolic Plan To Take Over Control Of ERHC …Daasebre Oti Boateng Petitions Speaker Over Okyenhene’s Unilateral Decision To Reconstitute Regional House of Chiefs  

Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Professor (Emeritus) Oti Boateng has petitioned the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Mr. Michael Aaron Oquaye over Okyenhene’s unilateral decision to reconstitute the membership of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs (ERHC).

The petition which is in the form of Compendium to the Speaker was copied to the Chairman, Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Parliament House, Accra, President, National House of Chiefs, Kumasi, President, Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Koforidua, all Paramount Chiefs, Eastern Region and Members of Parliament (MPs), for New Juaben North and South.

Daasebre Oti Boateng stated in his petition that the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (ACT 759) regulates the entire Chieftaincy Institution in the Republic of Ghana and all customary practices pertaining thereto.

“The various paramountcies constitute the National House of Chiefs and these paramountcies, as distinct units, operate under their various Traditional Councils. The Traditional Councils have unvarying uniformity in their structure and composition which cut across the entire country. These are, of course, regulated by ACT 759.” Portion of the petition read.

“Lately, an unusual incident has occurred at the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs (ERHC) which offends against ACT 759 and the lofty sacredness of the Chieftaincy Institution. The situation calls for a soul-searching research and this should be of interest to your Parliamentary Committee.

We have, therefore, thought it wise to prepare a COMPENDIUM on what has gone on at the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs and thereby present it as a MEMORANDUM to your Committee.

MEMORANDUM TO THE SUBSIDIARY LEGISLATION COMMITTEE

The Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (ACT 759) regulates the entire Chieftaincy Institution in the Republic of Ghana and all customary practices pertaining thereto.

The various paramountcies constitute the National House of Chiefs and these paramountcies, as distinct units, operate under their various Traditional Councils. The Traditional Councils have unvarying uniformity in their structure and composition which cut across the entire country. These are, of course, regulated by ACT 759.
