The Arden Darpoh family of Dawenya has advised the general public to ignore allegations made by one Johnny Botchwey of the Numo Awuley Kwao royal family to the effect that the former had sold Miotso lands illegally to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority.
In a press release issued to the media in reaction to a publication on ghanaweb and other media outlets, Johnny Botchwey alleged that the GPHA was illegally developing their lands at Miotso.
He said GPHA bought those lands from Real Assets Limited who was given the land by the Dawenya traditional authority illegally.
However, the press release, which was signed by Nene Kweku Darpoh, Chief of Dawenya and Head of the Arden and Darpoh family, stated that the authority alienated 300 acres of the family lands to Real Assets Limited who also subleased it the GPHA.
Nene Kweku Darpoh further said the land, which falls within the large tracts of land by the main Dawenya_Ada road, belongs to them and not for the people of Miotso.
He revealed that the land leased falls within the vesting assent made on the 24th day of February, 2005 and deposited in the records of Lands Commission as No V 4018 in favor of Nene Kweku Darpoh.
“The Ist defendants vesting assent made on the 24th day of February, 2005 as number V 4018 and registered in the records of the 2nd defendants (lands commission) as number AR 3036/2005 thereof remains intact.”
Nene Darpoh further cautioned the public to be very careful and crosscheck on people who claim they are landowners around Dawenya and it surrounding areas before buying lands.
